As some of you may know, my husband and I lived in Mexico City in 2007 and 2008. While there, I had the honor of lending my voice to a Spanish language music project, spearheaded by Jared Weatherholtz, called “Refugio de Gracia” – or “Refuge of Grace.” Our goal was to provide Christian hymns to Spanish speakers that were both theologically rich as well as musically and culturally relevant.
What began as a few simple recording sessions in Jared’s tiny Mexico City apartment (see pictures) became a full-fledged professional recording project, with help from a wide array of talented musicians and production technicians in Mexico City.
I’m pleased to announce that the CD was released earlier this year and now widely available for digital download – click this link if you’d like to listen to any of the tracks, or purchase a digital or physical copy.
As a non-native Spanish speaker, I was extremely honored to be accepted as as part of this project – I sing lead on tracks 3, 9, and 12 and backup on tracks 5 and 6.
If you’re an English speaker and you’re interested in getting a translation of all of the lyrics and meanings of each song, I’d be happy to send you the translations for most of the songs via email.
