Enchanted Rock

On Saturday we went hiking at Enchanted Rock. It was a lot of fun, but somewhat crowded because of Spring Break. For folks who don’t know, it’s a giant, pink bald hill made out of granite. It’s actually the second largest of it’s kind in the US.

We hiked to the top and then down a rocky side, and then spent some time sketching. Here is one of mine.

The name “Enchanted Rock” comes from ancient Native American beliefs that the rock held magical or spiritual powers. It was certainly strange looking in the middle of hilll country, where most hills are covered with trees.
